Revealing Truth through Fiction

The novel 10910 is an allegorical thriller about the miracle of salvation in Jesus as seen from the perspective of an atheist. It is a unique Christian novel that weaves biblical truths into a slightly prophetic tale of redemption. Below is a sample of some of the symbolism and easter eggs planted throughout the text.

The name 10910 comes from Romans 10:9-10 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." The drug symbolizes a personal relationship with Jesus, something a true Christian will remain addicted to for eternity. Engaging in that relationship facilitates the Holy Spirit's work in a believer's life, almost like a super power that can overcome the most dire situations and, in rare cases, even accomplish miraculous feats.

The Dark Prophet symbolizes Jesus Christ. He is the omnipotent creator in human form, having come to earth to interact with his creation and provide the opportunity for every person to be saved from their sins. His requests and actions are always for our good, though sometimes they initially appear strange or harmful. The most important thing anyone can do is to form a relationship with him.

The Draw is actually a real phenomenon. It is described in John 6:44, "No one can come to me [Jesus] unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day." (Note that in the prologue, Rachel begins feeling the draw around 6:44pm). Some people never get the draw, even if all their friends are Christians. To them, a relationship with Jesus seems foolish or unnecessary, or simply not for them. They are unable to even comprehend the immense power such a relationship provides to the believer (see I Cor 1:18). How does the draw develop in someone? Sometimes through life's challenges or personal tragedy. Other times it comes from an activity as simple as reading the right book. But if you feel it … Oh, wow, the draw is utterly irresistible.

There's much more symbolism and hidden scripture references in the text. After 10910 launches, a list of these will be available simply for signing up for the free newsletter. Until then, see how many you can discover on your own.
